Baptism

Take Your Next Step: Baptism

Baptism is a public declaration that you have decided to follow Jesus. If you’ve trusted Jesus as your Savior, baptism is your next step of obedience and a moment to celebrate what God has done in your life.

You’re not just getting baptized — you’re telling your story of how Jesus changed your life.

Why get baptized?

Jesus was baptized and set the example (Mark 1:9)
Jesus commands it for His followers (Matthew 28:19-20)
It shows your commitment to following Him (Acts 18:8)

Important to Know

Baptism does not save you.
Salvation comes through faith in Jesus alone (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Baptism is a step of obedience that celebrates the new life God has given you.

Baptism is a picture of:

💧 Cleansing – Jesus has forgiven and washed away our sin.
⚰️ Burial – Our old life is gone.
🌅 Resurrection – We are raised to new life in Christ.

Your Story Matters

When you’re baptized, we want to celebrate what Jesus has done in your life.
As part of signing up, you’ll have the opportunity to write a short version of your story.

You can either:

Read your story yourself before your baptism, or
Have a pastor or family member read it for you.

Don’t worry about writing it perfectly — just tell us what Jesus has done.

Baptism Frequently Asked Questions

Baptism is for anyone who has personally decided to follow Jesus.

In the Bible, people were baptized after they placed their faith in Christ. Baptism is a way of publicly declaring that Jesus has forgiven your sins and that you are choosing to follow Him.

If you have trusted Jesus as your Savior, baptism is your next step.

Many people were baptized as infants as part of a meaningful family or church tradition.

In the Bible, baptism happens after someone personally decides to follow Jesus. Because of that, many people who were baptized as infants choose to be baptized again as a personal declaration of their own faith.

Being baptized now does not reject what your parents did—it simply allows you to personally declare your faith in Jesus.

No.

Baptism isn’t about being perfect—it’s about recognizing your need for Jesus and choosing to follow Him.

Every follower of Jesus is still growing. Baptism is the beginning of a new life, not a celebration of having everything figured out.

No.

The Bible teaches that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus, not by any action we take.

Baptism is an outward expression of the inward change that happens when someone trusts Christ. It is a step of obedience that celebrates what God has already done.

Immersion (going under the water and coming back up) best represents the picture the Bible gives of baptism.

It symbolizes:

  • The burial of our old life
  • The resurrection to new life in Christ

It also reflects how baptisms were practiced in the New Testament.

Wear clothes you’re comfortable getting wet in.

We recommend:

  • dark color t-shirt (Not white)
  • Shorts or pants

Bring:

  • A towel
  • A change of clothes
  • A bag for wet clothes

You’ll have the opportunity to share your story of how you came to know Jesus.

You can choose to:

Have a pastor or family member read it for you

Don’t worry about making it perfect—we just want to celebrate what God has done in your life.

Yes!

Many people choose to have someone meaningful in their spiritual journey baptize them, such as:

  • A parent
  • A spouse
  • A mentor
  • A small group leader
  • A friend who helped them come to faith

If you’d like someone specific to baptize you, let us know on the form and we’ll help coordinate that.

That’s completely normal.

Many people feel nervous before being baptized, but most say afterward that it was one of the most meaningful moments of their faith.

Our team will walk you through everything ahead of time so you know exactly what to expect.

We’d love to talk with you.

If you’re unsure about baptism or want to learn more, you can reach out to one of our pastors on a Sunday and we’d be happy to help you take your next step.
